Happy August! Can you believe it?? Summer is flying by, and I have to admit, I am overwhelmed. I think I'm coming to terms with the fact that my online presence is going to be little to nil over summers. I just can't keep up ... even with my SuperMom cape on, I'm drowning. lol
But I did want to post today for the first Wednesday of the month's Insecure Writer's Support Group. To get to IWSG HDQ, click on the pic below.
If you missed my post a few weeks ago, I divulged that I'll be making a very public query process with this new project of mine. I'm keeping my stats updated here on the ol' blog and you can find the link on my sidebar under MY QUERY PROJECT.
I've got my query posted and all the deets on how the roller coaster ride is going in my search for an agent. Feel free to stop by any time and see how it's coming along.
Are you on the query roller coaster ride too? I love to hear about it (and have companions for the ride.) Tell me all about it in the comments.
In other news, I expect by this point everyone's heard about the possibility of being sued for posting copyrighted pictures on our blogs? I know many of us our guilty, including me, and I'll be trolling through my archives here and removing anything I'm not sure is a freebie. If you missed the post on how one author got sued, check it out here.
I'll be back on Aug 7-9 for Christina Rain's "What Was Your Childhood Monster" blogfest. Check it out and sign up... you know, if you feel like dredging up old fears and exposing them to the world. Sounds fun, right? I know I'll be there!
Also, big shout out going to SA Larsen who just signed with an agent after many months of searching. Head over and congratulate her! She is a wonderful blogger and friend! :)
So what's going on with you? Anything to share? Tell me all about it!

I sucked so badly at queries being accepted that I went the self-published route. John Locke and Amanda Hocking so far are not worried! I wish you the best of luck with your query!!
I'm in query mode too, but since I'm working on a new project I'm not stressing too much. Although I do a happy dance if someone request.
Good luck, Pk
Karen
Yeah, I'm a bit nervous about the whole imagery thing. I just heard of a group of writers who are pooling their free images together for all to use. I can't remember where I just read that.
And thank you so much for the shout-out!! You are awesome!
Have not done Pinterest yet, and I'm kind of relieved that I haven't, after all of the chaos over photo copyright. I may still, but I'll use my own art and photos.
I'm doing Camp Nano in Aug, hoping to make progress on a sequel.

I'll be joining you on the querycoaster! It's such a fun ride that I find my head spinning each time I hop on. Wahoo for queries!
SO excited for Sheri! And SUPER GOOD LUCK to you in the agent hunt! That's a big, scary thing to post your stats, but I've got everything crossed over here for you to have a fast, successful dip in the pool~ <3
The query rollercoaster is not my favorite thing! But I'll have my fingers crossed for you.
I'm sorry to say that the roller coaster of emotions does not end with querying. I won't get into the heartpounding drama of submissions, but I will tell you that right now my worry is what my agent will think of my new manuscript.
Queries?
I don't talk about those; they just make me more insecure than I am already. :-)
Good luck with the querying!
Queries are tough. Best of luck to you.
Good luck on your querying. You'll get there. There's lot of help in the blogoverse. I did one for a contest and got runner up but no offer to publish:) Ah well, I've decided to self-publish.
Best of luck with the query project. I'm not currently querying but I know how hard it can be.
I had to write my first serious query recently to submit a novella to Entangled Publishing. I read every query example I could find, but like everything, it's all contradictory. Just had to sell my story so went with my gut. Here's hoping. Good luck with yours. I'd rather write a novel than a query or synopsis any day.
I did a follow up to Roni Loren's post re image use and was overwhelmed with comments. Using your own photos is definitely the best way to go.
Good luck with querying! I have to check my old posts - some pics are mine, some were from a free and public shared site, and some . . . well. I just better check those.
Argh, querying is a real bitch. I did it one month at a time in 3 separate bursts. Then I took a break and bolstered my list. But before I restarted, I queried a publisher and that was that. I know I'll query for an agent again someday, but I think it'll be easier since I'll already have been published by a small press. Still, I know the process is a real bummer. Lots to learn though. Good luck!!
It's hard to believe we're two thirds into the current season, which is winter in my case. I'm looking forward to the monsters blogfest. Should be fun! :-)
Well, I decided on a bookcover for my book. Right now its in proofreading before it goes to formatting.
Hugs,
Shelly
I've just started sending out a few queries - it is spooky scary! Good luck to you! :)
This summer is absolutely crazy. I couldn't agree more.
I'm planning to send out my 1st query super soon. I will be checking on your querying right along beside mine. Roller Coaster, here I come!
Thanks for the heads up on the blogfest
Best to you with querying! I'm looking forward to your updates.
Querying is no fun. I'm about to send out a new bunch next week. I've revampted my opening chapter which I think was what has been holding me back. Agents have clearly liked my query, but have passed on my first chapter Fingers crossed for you!
Hey, PK,
I think you might have company on that roller coaster ride. I plan to query my second novel again next week. I only sent it out to a few places and i did get to full requests. SO I need to keep plugging it. Distractions from work in Florida have kept me from it, as you know.
I posted pics of my design job if you get a chance to pop over. Scroll down to the post after ISWG post.
Good luck on the ride...
Great post! I hadn't heard about the copyright on the pic. It just angers me that someone would be so greedy about money like that. Makes me want to drop any photopraphers I'm friends with, although I've never used their pics.
So many rules anymore. The poor innocent blogger.
Good luck with querying!! You're a brave girl:-)
Hey, PK - been a while. I'm back with the blogoverse and easing my way back into the swing of it, though my fiction and poetry has yet to reveal its head once more.
Currently signed up for a freebie writing course - there's a link to it on my latest post :)
Good luck with the querying. Querying is not an easy time in a writer's career.
Good luck with querying. It can be a roller coaster ride.
I'm also participating in the childhood monster blogfest. It'll be interesting to see what everyone posts.
I'm not yet to the querying point. I'm in the third draft of my YA contemporary and hitting some rough spots. Curse you rough spots! Good luck with querying!
Good luck with finding an agent. I've pre-scheduled my Fearless childhood monster post already.
You don't query for poetry. It is more like a "submit, wait, be rejected" kind of pattern.
I think you will find someone to take you on, though. It is good you're being so public about it. If you ever need a "I need to know I'm not alone in this" moment, I will send you all my rejection slips for the past month. There's a lot!
I'm in the midst of doing edits for others, and I've had some rough news come up, which has put a wrench in the works.
